Autobiography – MaryJane Galang Guest-Hayes
MaryJane Galang Guest-Hayes, born and raised in San Francisco, California, has dedicated her life to service, leadership, and community. At the age of 25, she proudly joined the United States Navy, where she served for more than a decade as a Hospital Corpsman and advanced to Chief Preventive Medicine Technician. With over 15 years of experience in Industrial Hygiene supporting the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, MaryJane has built a career rooted in health, safety, and discipline.
Military Service and Deployments
MaryJane deployed three times after 9/11. Her first deployment was in 2001 aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) as part of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable). With the U.S. Marine Corps, she traveled to Kenya, Africa, Bahrain, Hawaii, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia. During this time, she contributed to operations in Afghanistan and took part in humanitarian assistance efforts in Kenya.

Education and Achievements
While serving in the military, MaryJane pursued higher education and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science. She also earned her SERVSAFE Manager’s Food Sanitation Certification, expanding her expertise into the food service industry where she plans to focus her career after military retirement.
Family and Personal Life
Family has always been at the heart of MaryJane’s journey. She has three children:
- Marcos, her eldest son (35), lives in Sparks, Nevada, and works for Tesla.
- Clint, her second son, tragically passed away in 2020 due to a fentanyl overdose. He leaves behind a daughter, Cecilia, who lives in Oxnard, California.
- Jasmin, her youngest daughter (27), recently welcomed her daughter Saige. Jasmin, along with Saige and her partner Shannon, currently lives with MaryJane in Fallon, Nevada.
As a proud mother and grandmother, MaryJane balances her professional accomplishments with her deep commitment to family.
Looking Ahead
MaryJane will officially retire from military service on 30 September 2025, after a distinguished career in Industrial Hygiene for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. With her leadership skills, health science background, and food safety certification, she is now preparing to transition into the food service sector.
Her goal is to continue serving her community in Churchill County, Nevada, by combining her military discipline, healthcare knowledge, and food sanitation expertise to build a meaningful second career.
